Consent to carry out manned underwater operations on Volve

Statoil ASA has received consent to carry out manned underwater operations (MUO) in connection with installation work on the Volve field.


Volve is an oil field situated in the Sleipner area in the North Sea. The development plan involves installation of a jack-up facility with drilling and process facilities, tied in to a permanent floating facility (storage ship).

Seaway OspreyAfter processing, the crude oil from the field will be transported to the storage ship, while the gas will be exported to the Sleipner A facility for processing and further transport.

The development will take place in 2006 and 2007, and the diving operations will be conducted in July-August 2006 by the contracting company Acergy A/S using the diving vessel DSV Seaway Osprey (see photo). The work will consist of connecting mooring equipment and flexible pipes.
