Consent to conduct exploration drilling in block 6407/1

Wintershall Norge ASA has received consent to conduct exploration drilling of well 6407/1-5 S in the Norwegian Sea using the Borgland Dolphin mobile facility.


The well will be drilled in production licence 475BS/CS, 39 kilometres southwest of Heidrun. Water depth at the site is approx. 300 metres.

The well has the following geographical coordinates:
.• N 64° 59' 20.14"
• E 07° 00' 17.24"

Drilling will start in December 2011, and has an expected duration of 60 to 87 days, depending on a potential discovery.

Borgland Dolphin (photo) is a semi-submersible Aker H-3 type mobile facility that was built as a flotel at Bergen Mekaniske Verksted in 1976.

In 1999, it was modified into a mobile drilling facility at Harland and Wolff Shipbuilding and Heavy Industries Ltd. in Belfast.

The facility is owned by Dolphin AS and received an acknowledgement of compliance(AoC) in September 2004.
