Well 35/2-1 will be drilled as a vertical well to test potential hydrocarbons (gas) in the Peon structure in production license 318.

The area is north of Fram and west of Agat in the northern part of the North Sea. Planned start-up is around 1 August 2005.

The licensees in production license 318 are:

  • Norsk Hydro Produksjon AS (operator) 60%
  • Petoro AS 20%
  • Idemitsu Petroleum Norge AS 20%

Deepsea Trym is a semi-submersible drilling facility of the H-3 modified design, built at Aker Verdal and delivered in 1976.

The facility was purchased by Odfjell Drilling AS in February 1996. Since then, it has been in operation on the Norwegian shelf, and has undergone several upgrades and modifications to meet applicable shelf regulations.

The facility received an Acknowledgement of Compliance (AoC) in June 2003. The Deepsea Trym operates under the Norwegian flag, with Det Norske Veritas as classification society.
