Consent to use Alvheim FPSO on the Alvheim field

Marathon Petroleum Norge AS (Marathon) has received consent to use the mobile production facility Alvheim FPSO (Floating Production, Storage and Offloading) on the Alvheim field.

The Alvheim FPSO is a former tanker (then called MST ODIN) which the operating company Marathon Petroleum Company Norway (MPC) has rebuilt into an FPSO.

On 14 March 2008, Maersk Contractors Norge AS (MCN) received an Acknowledgement of Compliance for the facility (link). MCN is responsible for operation of the production phase on the Alvheim field.

The Alvheim field is an oil and gas field located in the northern part of the North Sea, close to the border with the British shelf. The field encompasses the three discoveries 24/6-2, 24/6-4 and 25/4-7 (link to the NPDs fact-pages). The water depth varies between 120 - 130 meters.

The field is developed with subsea wells and a production facility (Alvheim FPSO - see illustration) where the oil will be stabilized and stored. The oil will be transported to land using shuttle tankers.
