Consent to use Borgland Dolphin at Vega Sør

Statoil Petroleum AS (Statoil) has received consent to use the Borgland Dolphin mobile drilling facility for plugging and facilitation of sidetrack drilling at well 35/11-R-12 H Vega Sør.


Well 35/11-R-12 H Vega Sør is part of production licence 090C in the northern part of the North Sea, and is operated by Statoil.

The planned position during drilling will be:

  • 61° 10' 26.205" N
  • 03° 26' 29.918" Ø

Water depth at the site is 368 metres.

The drilling operation has a planned duration of 30 days.

Borgland Dolphin (above) is a semi-submersible drilling facility of the Aker H-3 type. It was built at Harland & Wolff in Belfast, Northern Ireland in 1977 and underwent an extensive upgrade in 1999. The facility is owned by Borgland Dolphin Pte Ltd and operated by Dolphin Drilling A/S. It received Acknowledgement of Compliance (AoC) in February 2004.
