Consent to use Langeled - southern part

Gassco AS has applied for consent to use Langeled from Nyhamna in Norway to Easington in the United Kingdom. So far, the Petroleum Safety Authority Norway (PSA) has granted consent to use the southern part of the pipeline.

Langeled gasstransportsystemThe Langeled gas transport system is to transport gas from facilities including the Ormen Lange land facility at Nyhamna, via a hub on the Sleipner riser facility to a new receiving terminal in Easington on the east coast of England, see map. The total length of the transport system is about 1200 kilometers.

The southern part of Langeled will be put to use and filled with gas in September 2006, while the northern part is still undergoing construction. It will be put to use in the fall of 2007.

We have therefore chosen to prioritize the approval process for the southern part of the system. We have informed Gassco that its application must be updated and new information incorporated before we can make a decision on granting consent for use of the entire transport system.
