In February 2004 Statoil applied for a consent for a major modification and extended lifetime for Åsgard C. The consent to major modification was issued in March 2004.
Åsgard C has since the year 2000 operated as a mobile storage facility (storage ship) for condensate production from Åsgard B. Following the modification, the facility is to be used as a joint condensate store for Åsgard and Kristin.
Condensate from Åsgard B and Kristin being transported to Åsgard C (Ill.: Statoil).
Åsgard C is owned by the shipping company Knutsen OAS Shipping AS, which is also responsible for staffing, operations and maintenance, while Statoil has the overall responsibility in relation to the PSA and the partners.
In connection with the modification and extended use, Statoil has entered into a new lease agreement with the shipping company, with options until to 2018.
The PSA has now issued Statoil with consent to use Åsgard C up to 2018.
