Consent to use Ormen Lange

Norsk Hydro Produksjon A.S. (Hydro) has received consent to commence use of the Ormen Lange subsea facility including pipelines to land and the land facility at Nyhamna.

Norsk Hydro Produksjon A.S., development operator for Ormen Lange (see figure), has applied for the following on behalf of the licensees:

  • Pursuant to the Regulations of 1 January 2002 relating to materials and information in the petroleum activities, Section 5d: for consent to use the Ormen Lange wells, well templates and manifold with associated pipelines between the templates and the land facility.

  • Pursuant to the Temporary Regulations relating to safety and working environment for certain petroleum facilities on land and associated pipeline systems, Section 19: for consent to use the Ormen Lange land facility at Nyhamna in Aukra municipality.


We have granted Hydro consent in accordance with the application on 4 July 2007.

The plan is to bring in gas from Sleipner to test the facility during July 2007.

The start-up date for production from the Ormen Lange field is scheduled for 1 October 2007.
