ConocoPhillips Norge (CoPNo) has applied for permission to commence use of the Ekofisk 2/4 M substructure, as well as the gangway support and the gangway.

CoPNo will start to use these parts of the facility in connection with the drilling of 5 wells before installation is complete. The Petroleum Safety Authority Norway (PSA) granted its consent to the application on 15 June 2004.

The substructure, the gangway support and the gangway from Ekofisk 2/4 M to the

have all been installed. The topsides are under fabrication and will be installed in the summer of 2005.

In the meantime, the mobile rig Mærsk Innovator will get in place over the substructure and drill five wells.

Parts of the deck on top of the substructure will be used as fasteners for the new wells, and drainage tanks have been installed.

The gangway will serve as an escape route for personnel who will from time to time be working on the deck of the substructure.

Ekofisk 2/4 M will be put into use from August 2005 and will be able to accept production from as many as 30 wells.
