Consent to use Polar Pioneer on Norne

Statoil ASA has secured consent to use the mobile facility Polar Pioneer for production drilling and completion on subsea wells on the Norne field.


Lokasjon NorneThe Norne oil field is part of production license 128 and is situated in the Norwegian Sea about 80 kilometers north of Heidrun.

Statoil is the operator of the field and the other licensees are Eni Norge AS, Norsk Hydro Produksjon AS and Petoro AS.

The consent relates to production drilling and completion of two subsea wells in block 6608/10. The purpose of the activity is to increase recovery on the Norne field by drilling an additional well and to improve the pressure support on Svale by sidetracking one of the injectors.

The Polar Pioneer is operated by Transocean Offshore. The facility received the Petroleum Safety Authority Norway's (AoC) in May 2004.
