Consent to use Stena Dee for drilling on Troll

The Petroleum Safety Authority Norway (PSA) has granted its consent to Norsk Hydro Produksjon AS for use of the mobile rig Stena Dee (photo) for drilling seven production wells on Troll, in production licenses 054 and 058.

The Stena Dee is a semi-submersible mobile drilling rig with "Mitsubishi MD-602" dynamic positioning. It was commissioned in 1982 and is owned and operated by Stena Drilling Ltd.

In December 2003, Stena Drilling applied for the Petroleum Safety Authority Norway's Acknowledgement of Compliance (AoC). Processing of the application will be completed shortly.

The wells are situated on the Troll field.The first well has been designated 31/2-P-24 (see map).

The start-up time depends on the rig's previous activities, but will be no earlier than 1 November.The latest expected start date is 15 December 2004.

Estimated duration of the activity is 612 days.
