The Petroleum Safety Authority Norway (PSA) has granted its consent to Statoil ASA for use of the mobile rig Stena Don (photo) for recompletion work and repair of two wells on the Vigdis field. The consent is an extension of an existing consent granted to Statoil in June 2004.

On 21 June 2004, Statoil received permission to use the Stena Don to carry out sidetrack drilling, completion and maintenance of subsea wells on Snorre.
We are now extending this consent to apply to use of the rig for repair and recompletion of two wells on the Vigdis field.

Vigdis is situated between Snorre and Gullfaks. The field was proven in 1986 and started producing in January 1997.The field has been developed using subsea installations at a depth of 280 meters. The subsea facilities are tied in to Snorre, where the petroleum is treated.
Statoil will recomplete well 34/7-E-4 H, which has a leak from tubing to annulus, and another leak in the swab valve on the subsea xmas tree. The company also plans to repair the safety valve on well 34/7-E-1 H, or alternatively, recomplete this well also.
The Stena Don, which is operated by Stena Drilling Ltd , was granted an on 19 March 2002. Since the beginning of 2002, the rig has been engaged in operations for Statoil including production drilling, testing and recompletion on Norne and Åsgard.
