The earliest estimated start-up of drilling is December 2005, but it could be as late as in March 2006, depending on the progress of the Transocean Leader's current activities.

The Transocean Leader is a semi-submersible mobile drilling facility owned and operated by Transocean Offshore Ltd. It was delivered from Hyundai Heavy Industries in Korea in 1987.

The facility received the Petroleum Safety Authority Norway's (AoC) in December 2004.
