DNO's application for consent for exploration drilling is rejected

The Petroleum Safety Authority Norway has rejected Det Norske Oljeselskap's (DNO) application for consent for exploration drilling using the drilling facility Bredford Dolphin in production licence 305 in the North Sea.

Our decision is based on an assessment of DNO's organisation in relation to the requirements stipulated in Section 10 of the Framework Regulations relating to organisation and competence.

The assessment is based on the application for consent and other information received from DNO. We find that the operator has not been in possession of the required competence and capacity in their preparations for the upcoming activities.

Nor does DNO have the necessary competence and capacity required to run a prudent drilling operation.
