Helicopter accident

The Petroleum Safety Authority Norway (PSA) mobilised its emergency response centre at about 12.30 on Friday in order to follow up the accident with a helicopter which crashed en route from Gullfaks B to Bergen. Since the PSA is not the responsible authority for aviation, however, it will not be answering questions from the media related to the accident.

Because of its relationship with the industry and its area of responsibility, the PSA is following the accident closely from its emergency response centre.

Statoil is the operator of Gullfaks B, and the Norwegian Civil Aviation Authority is the agency responsible for helicopter traffic to and from offshore installations in Norway. Search and rescue work is being led by the joint rescue coordination centre (JRCC) for southern Norway.

Questions about the accident can therefore be directed to Statoil, the Norwegian Civil Aviation Authority and the JRCC.
