International report on offshore crane and lifting issues

The Authorities' Forum the International Regulators' Forum (IRF) has prepared a report which describes the challenges involved in offshore crane and lifting operations in the individual member countries. Like the authorities of the other countries, the Petroleum Safety Authority Norway (PSA) has provided access to the report in accordance with a pre-determined standard.

Further, benchmarks have been identified that will ensure compliance with the relevant national legislations of the individual countries. The problems are ranked in order of priority.

The report is published in order to increase the industry's understanding of the challenges within the areas of crane and lifting operations in the member countries.

The PSA will shortly publish and also post on their web site a report on an analysis of incidents involving offshore cranes, which systematically provides an account of the direct as well as underlying causes.

This has been a cooperation project between the PSA and the industry.
