Lion for offshore safety

It has been a tradition for many years; during ONS, the Petroleum Safety Authority Norway (PSA) changes its colours. The red and green emblem is set aside and we stand behind the very Arms of the Norwegian State along with other oil and gas management authorities.

Taking place from 28-31 August, the ONS oil exhibition and conference has been staged every other year in Stavanger since 1974.

At the stand in Hall F, box 606 (see map of exhibition area) you can meet representatives from the PSA, Ministry of Labour (AD), Ministry of Petroleum and Energy (MPE) and Norwegian Petroleum Directorate (NPD) who will answer general questions regarding safety and resource management.

The stand will always be staffed with representatives from all four agencies – and they are eager to chat with the public!

Street art
The visual design will make box 606 easily recognisable in Hall F. The eye-catcher on this year’s stand is a 4 x 8-metre mural signed by street artist Martin Whatson.

The piece reflects core words for the four governmental agencies as seen through the artist’s eyes. The core words are innovative, human, transparent, safe and predictable.

This year, visitors will also be asked to participate in an informal quiz where they have to answer questions related to the four collaborative agencies. A print of the painting will be drawn as a prize each day. The main prize, an iPhone, will be drawn on Friday afternoon. Winners are announced daily on our website.

The authorities’ stand is also the place to get central, printed publications – such as the Safety – status and signals magazine from the PSA. True to tradition, the NPD’s shelf map will also be handed out at the stand. This year, the MPE and NPD are also launching the fact sheet as an app during ONS.

The 2012 authority stand was created by the PSA’s graphic designer, Janne-Beth Carlsen N’Jai, together with the PSA and NPD’s joint project team for ONS.
