NPD investigates oil leak on Draugen

In cooperation with the Norwegian Pollution Control Authority (SFT) and the Norwegian coastal administration, the Norwegian Petroleum Directorate (NPD) investigate the oil leak at the Draugen installation in the Norwegian Sea. The leak was discovered on Monday 19th. May.


According to Norske Shell, operator of the field, about 100 cubic meters of oil have escaped. As production has been halted, no additional oil will seep into the sea.

The NPD has set up a special task force to follow up the incident on Draugen.

The Draugen installation is situated on the oil field for which it was named on Haltenbanken, 145 kilometers northwest of Kristiansund.
