Ocean Rig receives order after discharge of hydraulic oil in the Barents Sea on 12 April 2005

The Petroleum Safety Authority Norway (PSA) has issued an order to Ocean Rig ASA today, following discharge of hydraulic oil on 12 April 2005 on the Eirik Raude in connection with drilling of exploration well 7131/4-1. The company's responsibilities include the operation and technical condition of the drilling facility.

A notification of order was sent to the company on 14 April 2005. In its reply, the company commented that investigations of the incident have been initiated, and that new measures will be developed.

In conformance with the notification, Ocean Rig ASA has received the following order:

With authority in Section 15 of the Management Regulations, Ocean Rig is ordered to reevaluate the work performed after the previous incidents and to implement new measures that are sufficient to prevent these types of incidents. The measures must be implemented before the halted activities may resume.
