Order following an audit of Transocean's maintenance system

The Petroleum Safety Authority Norway has issued an order to the drilling contractor Transocean Offshore to prepare a binding schedule which ensures that the required maintenance is performed on all facilities for which Transocean is responsible in Norway.

The order has been issued on account of an audit activity focusing on Transocean's maintenance systems. It transpired during the audit that neither the classification of systems and equipment, nor analyses concerning the management of maintenance, comply with regulatory requirements.

Transocean is therefore ordered to prepare a binding schedule which ensures that the required maintenance is carried out, including classification, preparation of a maintenance programme and measuring the effectiveness of maintenance.

Transocean is also ordered to review and update their internal processes for handling deviations.

The audit report that has given rise to the order will be forwarded to Transocean shortly.
