Order following gas blowout on Snorre A

An order has been issued to Statoil ASA as previously indicated, following the gas blowout incident on Snorre A.

An uncontrolled situation occurred on 28 November 2004 during work on well P-31A on the Snorre A facility. The work involved pulling casing to prepare for drilling a sidetrack. During the course of the day, the situation developed into an uncontrolled gas blowout on the seabed, resulting in gas accumulating under the facility.

The Petroleum Safety Authority Norway (PSA) has investigated the incident.
