Orders after audit of Statoil's consent process

On 25 November 2003, the Norwegian Petroleum Directorate (NPD) issued two orders to Statoil ASA after an audit of the company's consent process.


The orders are worded as follows:

1. Pursuant to Section 10 of the Framework Regulations: "Organisation and competence", Section 11 of the Management Regulations: "Manning and competence" and Section 19 of the Activities Regulations: "Competence", Statoil ASA is ordered to review its system for training and competence for drilling-related personnel, and ensure that said system satisfies the regulatory requirements for ensuring competence, cf. Chapter 5.1 of the report.

2. Furthermore, pursuant to the Management Regulations' Section 3: "Management of health, environment and safety", Section 9: "Planning" and Section 21: "Follow-up", the company is ordered to review and follow-up its management system for health, environment and safety to ensure that the processes the company implements to improve the HES follow-up of mobile installations also addresses the specific factors highlighted in Chapter 5.2 of the report.

The deadline for complying with the order is 5 January 2004. The NPD must be notified when the orders have been fulfilled.
