This accident occurred just before 12.00 today, and two people have been transferred to Haukeland hospital in Bergen for treatment.
Relating to a short-circuit/heat build-up in a switchboard room, the incident is understood to have given rise to smoke but no naked flames.
The position on the rig has now returned to normal, and all safety systems are intact. Ninety people were on board when the incident occurred.
Songa Dee is located on the Troll field in the North Sea, under contract to Troll oil operator Norsk Hydro. Owned by Songa Offshore, it is managed by Stena Drilling.
A PSA team will be sent to the rig this afternoon/evening. In addition to its own work, it will support the investigation which the Norwegian police has decided to conduct.
