Pipelines have been in use on the Norwegian continental shelf close to 40 years. There are a number og possible failure modes connected to the life cycle of a pipeline from the stages of planning, installation, operation and possible removal.

Many years of experiences has given us a greater understanding of failure mechanisms related to pipelines. Analysing failures and incidents relating to production, installation and operation has enhanced the reliability of such facilities and increased knowledge about them.

In the PSA regulations (Activities regulations section 47) there is a requirement to perform a first time inspection of pipelines. According to the requirements this inspection shall be carried out within the first two years of operation.

For PSA it is of great importance that there is a common understanding of this requirement among operators in Norway and to ensure equal treatment in cases where a first time inspection is deemed unnecessary.

The seminar is intended to increase the general level of such knowledge and to transfer experience within the industry.

Its principal focus will be on experience, quality on inspections and inspection methods, failure modes and mechanisms, systemising and use of inspection data, development of inspection and monitoring techniques, and incidents.

Programme: See right-hand column.

Attendance is free.

The seminar will be in English.
