Gjøa was proven in 1989 and is located about 40 km north of the Fram field. The reservoir contains gas above a relatively thin oil zone.
StatoilHydro is the operator during the development phase, while Gaz de France will assume operator responsibility when the field comes on stream.
The development will comprise five subsea templates tied in to a semi-submersible production and process facility (illustration).
The oil will be exported in a new 55-km pipeline to be connected to Troll Oljerør II, for further transport to Mongstad.
The plan is to export the gas in a new 130-km pipeline to FLAGS-transport system on the British Continental Shelf, for onward transport to St. Fergus. The PDO was submitted in December 2006.
The audit was conducted as a meeting where the project organisation presented key topics linked to well solutions for Gjøa. Representatives from the development operator StatoilHydro and the future operator Gaz de France participated in the meeting.
