We have a goal. We want to write as straightforwardly as possible about issues which are not particularly straightforward. The aim is to increase knowledge about, create commitment to and enhance understanding of the very foundation for the petroleum industry: safety for people, the environment and material assets.
Safety – status and signals summarises the past year and looks into the crystal ball for the time to come.
That ball contains powerful images, tough words and clear tags at the start of 2015. Cost pressures and declining oil prices are frequently repeated in letters of red.
Producing-life extensions and maintenance requirements are moving strongly and demandingly to centre-stage – while expressions such as opportunities and simplification cast a golden aura over the whole.
We are currently hammering away at some key messages as often as possible. Savings must not be made at the expense of safety. Change process must strengthen rather than weaken a safety commitment.
Moreover, responsibility for prudent operation and for ensuring continuous safety improvements remains where it has always been – with the companies.
Read more about a safe late life, our new main priority for 2015. We also sum up seven years of paying special attention to groups particularly exposed to risk, and introduce you to issues and people set to make their mark on Norway’s largest industry for a good time to come.
A new feature is that this year’s edition is also available as a dedicated web magazine.
