Audit of Mærsk Reacher - maritime systems and load-bearing structures

On 21-22 March 2011, the Petroleum Safety Authority Norway (PSA) conducted an audit of Maersk Drilling Norge AS (Maersk) targeting documentation of maritime systems and load-bearing structures on Mærsk Reacher.

The audit is based on Maersk’s 21 December 2010 application for an Acknowledgement of Compliance (AoC) for the mobile facility Mærsk Reacher.

The objective of the audit was to verify that Maersk has carried out the necessary measurements and measures to ensure that Mærsk Reacher is in compliance with the petroleum regulations for maritime systems and load-bearing structures.

One nonconformity was revealed in relation to regulatory provisions, linked to the lack of analyses of structures for use on the Norwegian shelf. Improvement items were also identified related to deficient documentation of quality control, assumptions for analyses, weights and closure mechanisms.
