The DSYS database

We have established several databases to systematically record and process information on incidents associated with the petroleum activities. The DSYS database has been established in connection with manned underwater operations (diving).

All reported incidents are registered in a diving database. Reporting to DSYS takes place through reports on the National Insurance Administration's form with attachments and via activity reports submitted by the operating companies. This material is then quality-assured in the Petroleum Safety Authority Norway.

We publish annual reports from the diving database with statistics and analysis based on data from 1985 to the present.

Status
In an HSE perspective, diving on the Norwegian Continental Shelf has shown a positive development since the beginning of the 1990s. There have been no fatalities since 1987, and only four cases of decompression sickness have been reported since 1990.
